What we cover

Your 3-month journey

During the first month you'll learn:

  • How to introduce yourself in Swedish

  • How to spell your name and read any text in Swedish knowing all pronunciation rules

  • Basic vocabulary such as greeting phrases, days of the week, months, seasons, numbers, colors

  • How to tell time

  • How en and ett words work (definite and indefinite form)

  • How to structure simple sentences (Swedish word order)

  • How to talk about your marital status, your job and why you're learning Swedish

  • How to ask someone how they're doing in formal and informal ways, and how to answer

  • Food vocabulary

  • Progress check

During the second month you'll learn:

  • How to talk about your daily activities and hobbies

  • Question words (vem, var, vad, hur)

  • How to talk about the weather

  • Infinitive form and present simple tense

  • Hjälpverb: ska, kan, vill...

  • Plural of nouns (ett barn - två barn)

  • How to talk about your feelings and body parts

  • Progress check

During the third month you'll learn:

  • Adjectives (fin, fint, fina)

  • How to order at a restaurant or café

  • Possessive pronouns (min, mitt, mina)

  • Någon, något, några

  • Progress check

Materials

In this course, you will develop the ability to read, listen, speak and write in Swedish.

Lesson materials are provided online. In addition to our own proven teaching materials, we use grammar and listening exercises from multiple sources, including the 3rd Ed of Rivstart A1 + A2.

Everything is in one place, no switching between books and exercise books.

All PowerPoint presentations, worksheets, explanations, and materials are available for you to download and keep forever.

By the end of the course, you'll be able to

Greet people, introduce yourself and others, and hold short conversations.

Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases.

Manage in basic situations such as shopping and eating at a restaurant.

Fluency takes more than 3 months. This is where you build the base. You'll learn to introduce yourself, handle simple conversations, and understand the basics. Everything else builds on this.

No, classes won't be recorded. This is a live course, so showing up is how you'll get the most out of it.

Life happens! If you miss a class, let me know and I'll send you the notes, homework, and a quick recap of what we covered. You can hop into the other group that week, if there is one.

Around 1-2 hours a week for homework and practice. Please be aware that attending the classes only without doing the individual work will make you fall behind very quickly.

If you cancel with at least 7 days notice before the first class, you'll receive a full refund. 7 days before the course begins, refunds are no longer available. However, you will receive a 50% credit towards another course or 1:1 tutoring.
